Remnants of Engg Week

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Oh my Cortez... you are definitely cleaner now from your journeys along the acad oval but there's still mud on your cheek. Darn that Monday almost got you worn out, running around catching frisbees on the slippery Sunken Garden (Goal: save up money to get those Adidas studs and my Cortez wouldn't have to undergo the same torture). And so my body was aching for the rest of Eng'g Week.

Prepped for Diliman Marathon... ran around and drank Alaxan for days but nothing happened. Still my muscles were just not in good condition. 864. What rank did you place? Really don't know. Hope you at least got the 10th. More training and I'll guess you can place 3rd. Next time...

Have to say I've never enjoyed Eng'g Week this much! Nothing to worry about not like the past 2 years. Just enjoyed every bit of event I can participate in. Hehe. Congrats to my org, MSS! We placed 6th in the overall ranking to think that we only have 86 members and we're just on our 6th year going on 7th. Galing! At the rate we're going, we could place 1st! Nyahaha kidding! Next time, please please give me the schedule of the events and register me in the games. Sana pwede post-grad student sa 3 on 3! I want to enjoy my last year in Eng'g!

not so up-to-date update

It's been a very, very long time since I last wrote an entry here. I really don't know where to start. Well I think it's best to start where I ended.

October. What did happen then? 1st sem finals? Oh! 'Twas my 22nd birthday on the 22nd. Celebrated with ESC 03-04 friends + Sharie in Eastwood City at the World's Longest (and worst) buffet ever! First, we had to fall in line for more than an hour. Then battled with a hundred other hungry participants. By the time we got our plates full, we already lost our appetite. Should've refunded that ticket and went to Dad's or Saisaki for really good hassle-free food! Darn it. Well, at least we had fun playing at the Power Station Arcade -- shooting hoops, playing air hockey, pretending to be race car drivers... and my friends got to give me a bracelet from the tickets we collected. Awww... aren't they sweet? Hehe. =)

Visayas Trip! (Some of the pictures are on my Friendster page. Will upload the rest in my gallery when I have the time.)

Iloilo then Guimaras overnight.
Flew to Iloilo early in the morning of 25th of October. We had to attend the Physics Congress in Jaro, Iloilo but our presentation was scheduled on the afternoon of the 26th.

26
Back to Jaro, Iloilo. 4pm Poster Presentation.
Shyet na malagkit. Just 90 minutes of senseless poster presentation and we had to pay 3000 bucks for the registration, the certificate and the grade! The food was not good so was the place. We had to find our own room to stay in. We had to find the gimmick places as well. Should've stayed in some hotel so we could swim and have fun at our own convenience. Sobrang hassle.

7pm Dinner at Breakthrough.

10pm Drinking Session at MO2.
Jammed with the guest band. Wild. =)

27
To Miag-ao.
Had the original La Paz Batchoy for brunch. Sarap! Then travelled for more than an hour to UP Miag-ao. Then we visited the Miag-ao Church. Ganda. Then I had at least 12 pieces of delicious steamed oysters with vinegar from tuba for only 40 pesos. Ayos!

To my Tita's House in Tangalan, Aklan.
Ito ang matindi. The travel from Iloilo to Kalibo, Aklan is at least 3.5 hours. But then the rain continuously poured so we had to stay at the back of a van as it traversed the rocky roads for 5 hours. And I had to hold my urine for that long a time too. No stopovers. We were in the middle of nowhere. Imagine the torture whenever we encountered underdeveloped roads... nasa likod pa kami! When we got off the van, my butt was steaming hot and my stomach was growling, but the relief of just seeing a toilet bowl was rightfully expressed by an "Oh!" So what's the lesson of this story? Don't drink ANYTHING before you travel. Hehe.

28
From Tangalan to Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan
After a feast-like breakfast, we went to Caticlan by bus and there I was... on a pump-boat, hoping to enjoy another stay in the White Beach never to be called Bora. And I did. At least I didn't get sick this time around. And I had more money to spend. Hehe.

Ayla's list of Dos and Don'ts in Boracay:
  1. Don't go to Boracay without having any room reservation on a long-weekend. You'll go nuts looking for one.
  2. Don't wear denim jeans or closed shoes from Caticlan to Boracay.
  3. Don't enter the Coco Mangas (sa likod ng Coco Mangas). The crowd is not too good.
  4. Do get wild with the sounds of Pier One while drinking.
  5. Bring your camera wherever you go.
  6. Bring a sling bag to keep your prized possesions and you won't accidentally leave your camera or your wallet while checking out the Grotto or accessories sold along the way.
  7. Do get tipsy at the bars in Station 1 and run barefoot all the way to your cottage near Station 3 at two in the morning.
  8. Ride the canoe and go far, far away from the shore and get your arm muscles toned.
  9. Sun-bathe with Jojoba Oil.
  10. Lie down on the shore at 5 in the afternoon. You'll eventually fall asleep. It's a nice feeling. The breeze is oh so fine but you'll miss the sunset.
  11. Do not forget your goggles.
  12. Bring your Ziploc bags when you feel like swimming and bury your valuables in the beach so you can go probably anywhere without worrying that someone has taken your stuff on the shore.
  13. Of course, eat like you've never been so hungry in dinner buffets.
  14. Gather up with friends and drink Red Horse outside your cottage.

Back to Manila through Iloilo via PAL A320

to celebrate my Grandpa's 90th birthday. Astig!
