Alay

Mamaalam
Tala kong may ngiti
Saglit lamang
May huling habilin

Sa gitna ng 'yong paglalakbay
Sa dako mong ihihimlay
Dalhin ang payapa't
Pangakong wagas
Patawad

May lunas pa raw
Nananamlay mong diwa
S'yang may gamay
Ng malay mong tilang hiram
Itong minamata
Daang tinitimbang
Dala, tangi kong alay

Mamaalam
Sa mundong kay lupit
Sadya kayang
Nilihis ka sa pait

Sa gitna ng 'yong paghihimlay
Mangako kang maghihintay
Dalhin sa paglitis
Taglay na tamis
Paalam

graduation blues

Seems like my blog's getting outdated... Ang tagal na nung huli kong entry. A lot of things have already happened and I'll just enumerate what's significant and what I can recall.

23Apr05: College Recognition Rites - Crammed so much for the Engg Choir intermission but I'm glad we were able to pull it through in one week with a new song (as requested by Maam Gev), with hataks (mah two cuzins, tricia and newbies), with better costumes.

24Apr05: Commencement Exercises - Wearing the sablay felt so prestigious. Even if there were only four (4) of us from the MatE group, being part of a deadly yet enggcredible college gave us the spirit to cheer and scream with all the other Engg grads that "We're from Eng'g!"

26Apr05: Graduation Ball - While I was having my hair and make-up done at Jesi Mendez Galleria, my brother was undergoing biopsy at the St. Luke's Medical Center. Scary. Hope the mass is benign. Please pray for him. Anyway, dinner has started when we got to the Mandarin Oriental. Food was good but had to prepare to stand at the center of the Grand Ballroom. In the speech I gave, I mentioned some life-changing experiences that an Eng'g student may go through... and one of the emcees hit me back with the question: "What is the life-changing experience for you?" Ano nga ba? At that moment, I couldn't think of any specific event. Engg Week? Everything? And then at the end of the day, I realized, it was the whole two years I spent in the Student Council. I just wouldn't be who I am now if it weren't for that experience. Thanks for giving me that chance, Eng'g! :)

See the many pictures from Recognition Rites to Grad Ball here.

28Apr05: Start of my never-ending quest to learn how to swim properly - 1st and 2nd day at Amoranto. 3rd and 4th day at my Prince Gregory. 5th day at Alexandra. I'm not that afraid of the deep waters anymore coz I can float, I can tread somehow. 6th day at Prince Gregory again. Later I'll swim by myself. I need to shape up for Bora! Hehe.

30Apr05: Night out with High School Friends - initially met with Shaly and boyfriend Tonton, then Magda and boyfriend Jay-E. It made me think... "What the heck is this? A double date with me as the chaperone???" I was the only one single! I thought I needed to get someone. Good thing Mick and RJ followed - my bodyguards. Haha! Dinner at Burgoo. Tea at Gloria Jeans. Agreed to go to Boracay on May 13 and to Cebu on August! Woohoo! Layas na layas ako! Getting wet and wild! I'm gonna enjoy this summer. After all, this is the only time I really got to rest. I deserve a nice break, donchatink?

03May05: Last day of filing application for Master's Degree - paid the application fee, filed the requirements and saw the recommendation letter Doc A wrote for me. Read: Strengths - Above average intellectual capacity, good communication skills. Weaknesses - Academic performance adversely affected by extra-curricular activities. Bwahahahaha!!! Funny funny... Ang pag-aaral kasi sagabal sa ESC! Wehehe. Finally decided to become a full-time master's student, to get a scholarship at DOST, to find a light job within the University or somewhere near where I can involve myself in project management (probably an engineering consultancy firm). I hope I still get the chance to apply for a position as instructor in the department coz the application period's way past due when someone told me I was invited. Grrr... I guess if I don't get the chance, it's not meant for me to teach. Maybe not just yet.
